We wanted to find out how our community members from our SaskWatch Community feel about COVID-19
With the number of COVID-19 cases climbing daily, individuals around the world are being told to stay home in an attempt to flatten the curve and ensure the medical systems aren’t exhausted. We wanted to reach out to our local community members at SaskWatch.ca to see how residents of Saskatchewan were handling these turbulent times. We surveyed 400 SaskWatch community members from March 24-26 to find out. We plan to conduct a survey each week, so stay tuned for more updates.
The word cloud shows in a single word how people are feeling:
In terms of self-reported mental health, community members appeared quite low on the spectrum this week, with over half rating themselves as below “neutral”.
Lower mental health appears to be largely driven by high levels of stress and anticipation that things may become worse before they get better in the future:
However, despite the high levels of stress and concern for the coming weeks, community members did share a range of positive experiences and stories amidst the challenges being faced. Here are some of the positive comments below:
“I am crocheting puppy blankets for dog rescues.”
“Our family usually gets together for a family dinner every Sunday. This past Sunday, we had a virtual meeting with Zoom with our six children and their families.”
“I have started deciphering hidden letters my father-in-law sent his parents during his service overseas during World War 2. They make what we are going through now seem trivial compared to what he lived through.”
“A young woman doing mailbox drops, especially at elderly citizens in her neighborhood, with her phone number, so that they have someone they can call and talk to.”
Ongoing COVID-19 Insightrix Updates
